The Official Stampede GNU/Linux Website

Forward by Matthew S. Wood, Stampede Linux Head Developer

A subset of the Stampede Development team, (and their roommates / friends) Rob, Dan, Joyce, Chris, Eric, and I, headed to visit Steve in Sunny Phoenix, AZ. The purpose of the trip was to pick up a few used multias from the wonderful people at The Linux Store (plug). Along the way, we found state correctional facilities, held a developers meeting at a cyber cafe, raided a Irish run Mexican restaurant, and secured release name for 0.90.

Among the other wisdoms aquired on this journey, the power of technology and its integration into our lives has become very self evident. As I type this, we're cruising down Parking-Lot 15 (Interstate 15), with cell phones and pagers at side, digital cameras in the back seat, mp3's playing from the notebook's speakers, and Zelda 2 running under emulation a few terminals over. Technology is no longer denyable, it is a universal force not to be reckoned with. The times ahead will be some of the most interesting moments in the post-modern era, perhaps some of the most interesting moments of all time.

Below is a cronicle of our journey.

Headed down I70, we decided to try out Rob's new digital camera. Although we had to block some scenery (secret government stuff, you know), there is a fairly scenic (albeit bright) picture of me sitting in Dan's 1999 Monte Carlo. Photo courtesy of Rob. Secret Government Testing Facility
